‘ALL THE WORLD'S A STAGE’

Intro. Shakespeare said that “All the world's a stage,
The men and women in it merely players
We make our entrance then depart,
And in our time play many parts…..”
He said “…..we live our lives in seven stages”
(Verse 1) Stage one; The infant in the nursing arms
Mewing, puking, at each end, alarms!
Then with morning shining face
We creep to school at snails pace
Unwillingly, with satchel under arms!
Stage three; The lover sighing like a furnace
The bearded balladeer with passions earnest
Then the soldier quick to quarrel
With strange oath’s and seeking laurels
Aye a ‘bubble reputation’ furnish.
(Chorus) Verily, yea Merrily King or Queen or Knave
Play your part and play it well, for “all the worlds a stage”
( Verse 2) Stage five; The Justice fellow, fair and round
With eyes severe, a formal beard and gown
With pithy quotes, both wise and modern
He plies his art, a path well trodden
By those of his ilk, the world around.
Stage six; The lean and ‘slippered pantaloon’
Now shrunk and frail, his garb of youth ‘make room’
In spectacles he now recites
Those baritones now treble pipes
Squeaky somewhat, like an infant's tune. ( Chorus) Verily, yea Merrily etc.
( Verse 3) Stage seven; aye the last scene for us all
Before we make that final curtain call
Before we fill that small pavilion
Second childhood, mere oblivion
Minus teeth, eyes, taste… everything.
Shakespeare said that “All the world's a stage
The men and women in it merely players
We make our entrance then depart
And in our time play many parts”
So, while you can, enjoy the first five stages. …. (Chorus) Verily, yea merrily etc.
